SCC offers Jewish holidays services, other programs

          In September, the Sarah Chudnow Community will offer worship services for the High Holidays and Sukkot as well as weekly Sunday concerts and other activities and programs.

 

          Pianist Jack Zaffiro will perform on Sunday, Sept. 1, 2-3 p.m.

          Rosh HaShanah begins at sundown on Wednesday, Sept. 4. There is no cost to attend services in the Ruth Coleman Synagogue on the SCC campus. Check the website activity calendar for times.

          On Sunday, Sept. 8, 2-3 p.m., Julie Thompson’s High Standards comes to the Town Square. This performance will feature a blend of folk, jazz and classical.

 

          Sarah Chudnow Community prides itself on its ability to bring current events topics to its residents and the larger community. On Wednesday, Sept. 10, 7-8 p.m., the NAACP will present a discussion of “Voter’s Rights and the Supreme Court Decision.”

          Yom Kippur starts on sundown Friday, Sept. 13, with Kol Nidre services at 6:30 p.m.

          SCC’s music therapist, Zoe Biller will perform on Sunday, Sept. 15, 2-3 p.m. in the Town Square. Zoe is a pianist and composer and will be performing her own works and jazz, classical and Yiddish compositions.

          The holiday of Sukkot begins Wednesday, Sept. 18, at sundown. The community is invited to visit the SCC sukkah.

          On Sunday, Sept. 22, 2-3 p.m., vocalists Janice Forward and Alberta Dhillon will present “Eclectic Songs,” a program of standards, ballads, folk and country songs and show tunes.

          Twice a month, Lisa Gorelick, RN, brings information on various topics related to Healthy Living to SCC residents and community members. She will be visiting Friday, Sept. 13, 11:15 a.m., and Saturday, Sept. 28, 2:30-4 p.m.

          On Sunday, Sept. 29, 2-3:30 p.m., representatives from PNC Bank will present “Estate and Long-Term Care Planning” for residents and the community. The panel will touch on such topics as life issues, financial planning and family dynamics and include an attorney, an accountant and a family therapist.
