Primakow retires from MJF post

Sheryl Primakow has retired from her position as chief operating officer of the Milwaukee Jewish Federation as of July 19.

“It has been a privilege to have represented the Milwaukee Jewish Federation in our community,” Primakow said in a written statement. “My feelings about this community are only stronger from my experience, and I remain passionate about the rich diversity, strong communal organizations, and endless opportunities for Jewish learning and engagement that characterize the Milwaukee Jewish community.

“And I know that the dream of the reimagining process this community has gone through, and the vision for the role of the Milwaukee Jewish Federation is on its way to becoming a reality.”

Primakow, nee Cherniak, is a native of Providence, R.I. She has served as MJF community planning director for six years, interim executive director for about a year before Hannah Rosenthal was hired as president and chief executive officer, and COO since October 2012.

Before joining the staff of the MJF, Sheryl worked at the Wisconsin Humane Society as assistant to the director for human resources, the Milwaukee Jewish Day School as director of development and admissions and the Whitefish Bay School District as school counselor.
