This year’s A Biselle KlezKamp (A Bit of KlezKamp) is planned for Sunday, July 21, 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., at the Union South of the University of Wisconsin-Madison campus, 1308 W. Dayton St.
This “12-hour extravaganza of Eastern European/American Jewish life” will include music, dance, language, art, cultural studies and age-appropriate children’s programming, according to a news release.
Music workshops will explore tune types that would have been played at Jewish weddings. A lecture on Yiddish will have the theme “Born to Kvetch.”
Other sessions will explore Yiddish radio, Jews and food, Jewish party dancing, European recordings from the Mayrent Collection, and much more. The schedule will culminate with a concert and dance party that begins at 7 p.m.
The event is presented by the Mayrent Institute for Yiddish Culture in the Mosse/Weinstein Center for Jewish Studies at UW-Madison.
