Lubar, Selig receive honorary degrees

Milwaukeeans Marianne Lubar and Allan H. “Bud” Selig received honorary doctorates from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee on May 19, according to the June issue of the UWM Report.

Lubar received an Honorary Doctor of Leadership in the Arts for her work as “a leader, champion, philanthropist, adviser and sustainer of arts and culture in Milwaukee.” That work has included being the founding president of the Jewish Museum Milwaukee.

Selig, the national Commissioner of Major League Baseball, received an Honorary Doctor of Business for a record of work that “has improved the game as well as the business of baseball.”

He has also been extensively involved in local charitable organizations, including the Milwaukee Jewish Federation. He served as keynote speaker at the MJF’s 2012 Campaign Kickoff event in September 2011.
