Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker on June 9 was the featured speaker at a fundraising event of the Republican Jewish Coalition held in Beverly Hills, Calif.
According to the RJC website, the event was billed as the “2013 RJC California Summer Bash” and “A Gala Evening with Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker.”
What Walker said is not reported. In a June 10 email to The Chronicle, Tom Evenson, the governor’s press secretary, said Walker “speaks extemporaneously, so unfortunately I do not have a transcript or prepared text from his remarks.”
Walker’s scheduled appearance at this event inspired a critical opinion article by Aaron Keyak, executive director of the National Jewish Democratic Council.
The article was headlined “Gov. Walker doesn’t represent Jewish values.” It was printed in the Los Angeles Jewish Journal on June 5 and can be seen on that publication’s website.
