Camps receive challenge grants

Camp Ramah Wisconsin, Habonim-Dror Camp Tavor and the Steve and Shari Sadek Family Camp Interlaken of the Harry & Rose Samson Family Jewish Community Center have all been named recipients of Chai Match 2 challenge grants from JCamp180.

Each camp is eligible to receive different amounts — up to $18,000 for Tavor, and up to $54,000 for Ramah and Interlaken, according to news releases from JCamp180.

In the past eight years, JCamp180 has contributed more than $11.7 million in matching grant funds to non-profit Jewish overnight summer camps throughout North America.

The 25 participating camps have one year to raise matching funds in a two-phase matching campaign. The camps must use at least 50 percent of the overall funds raised for capital improvements. Details of the Chai Match 2 program are on JCamp180’s website.

All three camps have until March, 2014 to raise gifts and pledges that fulfill the camp’s portion of the program.

JCamp180 is a program of the Harold Grinspoon Foundation, located in West Springfield, Mass. The program provides training and support to the boards of directors of non-profit Jewish overnight camps and selected educational institutions. It also provides these institutions with technology assistance.
