A boy records his family in Israeli play

An 11-year-old Israeli boy receives as a present a child’s tape recorder/player. But instead of playing music, he uses it to record the doings of his family.

That is the theme of “My First Sony,” a one-man play by Benny Barbash, based on his novel of the same name.

The Israel Center of the Milwaukee Jewish Federation invites the public to a performance of this celebrated theater work starring highly acclaimed Israeli actor Roy Horovitz.

It will take place on Sunday, June 30, 5 p.m., at the In Tandem Theatre, 628 N. 10th St. Admission is $5. Parking is available on the street and in a nearby lot.

The play is being brought to town as part of the annual celebration of Israel@65. The performance will be followed by a reception and a talk-back with Roy.
