Tikkun Ha-Ir of Milwaukee will celebrate its tenth anniversary on Tuesday, May 21, 7 p.m., at Congregation Emanu-El B’ne Jeshurun, 2020 W. Brown Deer Rd.
The program will honor the organization’s founders: Rabbi Marc Berkson of CEEBJ; Rabbi David Fine, formerly of Lake Park Synagogue; Dr. Lew Friedland, THI’s first president; and Andrea Hoffman, former executive director of Hillel Milwaukee.
Guest speaker will be John Gurda, author of “One People, Many Paths: A History of Jewish Milwaukee” (2009), among other books. His topic will be “Are We in This Together?”, an historical perspective on social justice in Milwaukee.
Marge Eiseman and Lil Rev will provide music. The event will also feature a silent auction and a dessert buffet.
According to the 2012-13 “Guide to Jewish Wisconsin,” Tikkun Ha-Ir (Repair of the City) “provides opportunities to build a just Milwaukee through study, action, and civic engagement.”
