• The elections for the 19th parliament of the state of Israel will take place Jan. 22.
• 5,656,705 are eligible to vote, and can do so in 10,128 ballot boxes around the state. 1,796 ballot boxes are stationed in hospitals, prisons, and are handicapped approved. 96 ballot boxes are stationed outside of Israel.
• The voting percentage is between 65-85 percent throughout the history of Israel.
• 34 parties are going to run for the parliament. A party needs at least 2 percent of the total votes in order to be part of the Parliament.
• Among the parties, 10 are old and were represented in this current parliament, and 24 are new. There are: 3 right wing parties, 3 center parties, 6 left wing parties, 3 haredi Orthodox parties, 3 Arab parties, 3 olim (new immigrants) parties, and 12 other niche parties, including 1 environmental party, 1 pensioner’s party, 1 Green Leaf (environment and marijuana legalization) party.
• 3 women are leaders of 3 important parties — Tzipi Livni (Ha’tnua), Sheli Yechimovitz (Labor Party), Zehava Gal-on (Meretz).
