Congregation Sinai has acquired the 2011 Academy Award winning short documentary film “Strangers No More” and will show it on Tuesday, Jan. 15, 7 p.m., at the synagogue, 8223 N. Port Washington Rd.
The 40-minute film is about the Bialik-Rogozin School in Tel Aviv, its teachers, and some of its students. Many of its students are children of undocumented foreign workers, African refugees, and other outsiders to Israeli society who have fled poverty, political oppression, and genocide.
According to a Jerusalem Post article of April 1, 2011, the school has more than 800 students who come from 48 countries.
The screening is co-sponsored by the synagogue’s Israel and Social Action Committees. For more information, call 414-352-2970.
