JCC offers community-wide Chanukah celebrations

The Harry & Rose Samson Family Jewish Community Center is planning to offer two free community-wide events to celebrate Chanukah this year.

On Sunday, Dec. 9, a “Free Concert & Baby Ballerinas”event will take place 3:30 to 5 p.m. in the rotunda at the Bayshore Town Center in Glendale.

It will feature performances by children’s choirs from the JCC Gan Ami Preschool & Kindergarten, Congregation Beth Israel Ner Tamid, JCC Baby Ballerinas, and the Milwaukee Jewish Day School. In addition, there will be a PJ Library puppet Show.

On Monday, Dec. 10, a free “Making Miracles Happen” event is scheduled to take place at the JCC, 6255 N. Santa Monica Blvd.

It will feature a drumming circle with One Drum, family art experiences with Milwaukee Jewish Artists Lab artist-in-residence Benno Rothschild and his original Noah’s Ark metal sculpture, and Milwaukee Art Museum Kohls Color Wheels.

The event includes activities sponsored by area synagogues and Jewish agencies. In addition, there will be food, prizes, tzedakah (charity), and more, from 4 to 6:30 p.m. Guests are encouraged to bring a new, unwrapped gift to brighten a child’s life at Children’s Hospital. There will be a free raffle ticket with each donation.
