Clarification and Correction

In the November issue, the announcement of the start of a group called Kehilat Kolaynu seems to have caused some puzzlement and upset in the community. In the announcement the group’s organizers sent to The Chronicle, they called the group a “congregation,” simply meaning a group. They did not mean to suggest that they were starting a “Congregation” — that is, they are not starting a new local synagogue. The Chronicle regrets any misunderstanding that may have resulted from this.

Also in that issue, the author of the article about Nelly Trocmé Hewett and her parents, Magda and André Trocmé, who helped rescue Jews in France during World War II, forgot to mention that her parents are the subject of a biography, “A Portrait of Pacifists: Le Chambon, the Holocaust, and the Lives of André and Magda Trocmé” by Richard P. Unsworth (Syracuse University Press). The Chronicle apologizes for the omission.
