Anshe Sfard Kehillat Torah will host a local scholar, Rabbi Gil Rosen, for a talk entitled “In Defense of the Despised Faith: The Philosophy of the Kuzari,” on Wednesday, Dec. 17, 8 p.m. at the synagogue, 6717 N. Green Bay Ave. in Glendale.
“The Kuzari” is the classic of medieval Jewish philosophy by physician, poet, and philosopher Judah Halevi (c. 1075-1141). It is written in the form of a dialogue about Judaism between a rabbi and the king of the Khazars, the medieval central Asian people that converted to Judaism.
The talk is free and the public is invited to attend. For more information, call 414-228-9296.
