Chudnow Community hires Burndt as executive chef

The Sarah Chudnow Community has appointed Perry Burndt as its executive chef.

He has more than 35 years experience in the culinary industry. Burndt has managed restaurants, owned his own supper club in Random Lake, and most recently was the executive chef at Concordia University.

He has an associate’s degree from Moraine Park Technical College in foodservice.

In addition to an executive chef, Sarah Chudnow also has a full-time mashgi’ach (kosher supervisor) to oversee the kosher process as well as a dietary manager who works to maintain a balance of taste and proper nutrition.

 

Cytryn named director of Camp Ramah in Wisconsin

Chicago — Camp Ramah in Wisconsin on Sept. 5 announced that Jacob Cytryn has been named as its new director. The announcement came with the news that former director Rabbi Loren Sykes and his family will be moving to Israel in the coming year.

Cytryn has been a member of the year-round staff since 2007. He previously served as assistant director, program director, division head, counselor, and teacher.

An alumnus of the Wexner Graduate Fellowship, Cytryn is a Ph.D. student in Jewish studies and education in the Mandel Center for Studies in Jewish Education at Brandeis University. He has a Master of Arts degree in Talmud and rabbinics from the Jewish Theological Seminary; a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Pennsylvania; and has studied in Israel at the Hebrew University, the Conservative Yeshiva, and the Hartman Institute.

 
JCC hires Fell, Murray

Katie Fell has been hired as the new group exercise coordinator at the Harry & Rose Samson Family Jewish Community Center.

She is a recent graduate from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee with a degree in kinesiology with a focus on health and fitness and a certificate in nutrition. She also has a NETA Group Fitness Certification and an ACE Personal Training certificate.

She has been teaching group fitness and personal training at the JCC. She was the physical fitness trainer for the UWM cheerleading team and has served as varsity cheerleading coach at Waukesha West High School for three years.

The JCC has also named Mary Kay Murray membership associate. Her previous experience includes membership sales and administration at several YMCAs and as a life enrichment coordinator at Luther Manor in Wauwatosa. In addition, Murray is a certified personal trainer.
