Milwaukee artist Barbara Kohl-Spiro will discuss her works displayed in the exhibit “Shiviti: The Journey of an Artist” at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee Golda Meir Library, 2411 E. Hartford Ave., on Tuesday, Oct. 16, 7 p.m. Admission is free.
Prior to this event, a pre-reception is slated to take place at Hillel Milwaukee, 3953 N. Stowell Ave., at 5:30 p.m. RSVP to attend this event at info@hillelmke.org.
The works consist of large-scale paintings on handmade paper assembled to reflect the traditional fabrics often hung in synagogues as contemplative reminders of God’s presence.
The works are displayed partly in the Daniel M. Soref Learning Commons in the library, and partly at Hillel Milwaukee. The exhibit runs through Nov. 19.
The event is co-sponsored by the UWM Libraries; Hillel Milwaukee; UWM Year of the Arts, Peck School of the Arts, UWM Sam and Helen Stahl Center for Jewish Studies; Jewish Museum Milwaukee.
