On Sept. 10, Milwaukee Holocaust survivor Nate Taffel received the Friends of Education award from the School District of Menomonee Falls. The award recognizes unique contributions by individuals or organizations to the education of Menomonee Falls children. The recipient receives an original “busscape” that depicts a yellow school bus. Taffel’s award was created by third grader Sage Bell of Shady Lane Elementary School. He was nominated by Beth Larson, high school English teacher, for his commitment to tell his Holocaust story to hundreds of freshman for the past four years.
