The Chronicle needs to make something clear that may have been confusing in the September issue’s story about the combination of Beth El Ner Tamid Synagogue and Congregation Beth Israel into Congregation Beth Israel Ner Tamid.
CBINT now is the only Milwaukee-area synagogue officially affiliated with the national Conservative movement. As Temple Menorah’s spiritual leader, Rabbi Gil-Ezer Lerer, explained in a telephone conversation on Sept. 12, Temple Menorah, located in the city of Milwaukee, regards itself as a “traditional Conservative synagogue” in its practices and ideology, even though it is not a dues-paying member of the United Synagogue of Conservative Judaism.
The Chronicle apologizes for any confusion that may have resulted from lack of clarity on this point.
