Teen Mifgash

From July 5 to 16, a group of 12 Israeli tenth graders met and interacted with 17 U.S. kids of the same age for a Teen Mifgash (Encounter) program in Milwaukee. The Israelis came from the Sovev Kinneret region linked to Milwaukee through the Partnership2Gether program of the Jewish Agency for Israel. The U.S. teens came mostly from Milwaukee, and all were attending the Steve and Shari Sadek Family Camp Interlaken. On July 6, the two groups met for the first time at the Harry and Rose Samson Family Jewish Community Center under the direction of Milwaukee Israel co-emissary Michal Makov-Peled (standing). The U.S. teens were scheduled to visit Israel July 12-Aug. 2, including several days in the P2G region with the Israeli group. Mona Cohen, JCC program director, said this program has been taking place in Milwaukee for about 15 years. Photo by Leon Cohen.
