Milwaukee architect Phillip Katz will receive the Milwaukee Jewish Federation’s Benjamin E. Nickoll Young Leadership Award on Thursday, Sept. 6.
The award will be presented at a luncheon at 11:45 a.m. at the Pfister Hotel, 424 E. Wisconsin Ave.
Katz earned a Master of Architecture degree from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee’s School of Architecture and Urban Planning, where he graduated at the top of his class.
He is the founder of Phillip Katz Project Development. PKPD has earned many awards, including two Mayor’s Urban Design Awards, AWI award of excellence, and Industrial and Educational Project of the Year from the Business Journal of Milwaukee.
He serves on the board of directors of the Business Improvement District #32 and the Grand Avenue Club. He is a member of Presidents Council of Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin, and a founding member of the Wisconsin Green Building Alliance
He serves on the boards of directors of the Harry & Rose Samson Family Jewish Community Center, the Jewish Home and Care Center, and the Milwaukee Jewish Federation.
In 2011 and 2012, he participated in Jewish Federations of North America National Young Leadership Cabinet Missions to Chile, Argentina, Greece, and multiple lobbying missions to Washington, D.C. Katz was appointed to the Union of Reform Judaism’s Architects Advisory Council in 2012.
The event will also honor 2011 Nickoll Award recipient Josh Richman.
Currently chaired by 1968 recipient Steve Marcus, the award honors Benjamin E. Nickoll’s service to the community and includes a stipend to enable recipients to attend the JFNA General Assembly, scheduled this year for November in Baltimore.
