Chudnow Community plans concerts and learning

The Sarah Chudnow Community in Meqon will host special events and musical performances this month.

On Wednesday, Aug. 8, 2 p.m., the Kids Korps Dance Troupe will perform “An American Tribute.” The troupe includes students from Gayle’s Dance Studio Ltd. The non-competition, not-for-profit troupe dances year-round and has performed throughout Wisconsin, Florida, California and Minnesota as well as aboard Carnival cruise ships.

On Tuesday, Aug. 14, 7 p.m., the Easy Days Quartet will perform in the barbershop quartet style as part of the Sarah Chudnow Community Summer Concert Series. Together since 2008, Easy Days senior singers include tenor Bill Kilbourn, bass Dick Riege, baritone Bo Gibson, and lead singer Frank Marzocco.

On Thursday, Aug. 16, noon, Dr. David Borst, dean of business and legal studies at Concordia University, will be presenting a discussion on the current political and business climate. The “Lunch and Learn” will include complementary box lunches.

On Sunday, Aug. 19, 2 p.m., the Jewish Home and Care Center Foundation, in partnership with RUACH, Inc., will present the opening performance of the 18-month Rubin Sharpe Tribute Series. The inaugural performance will feature Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra principal violist Robert Levine and pianist Jeannie Yu, and will include music by Jewish composers.

On Tuesday, Aug. 28, 7 p.m., the final performance of the Summer Concert Series will feature Carmen Nickerson and Kostia Efimov. Efimov, trained as a concert pianist in Russia, is an internationally recognized musician who performs with a variety of regional acts. Nickerson, a Midwest native, has sung with many local groups including the North Coast Orchestra, the Bystanders, and the award-winning children’s music group, the Chickadees.
