The Jewish National Fund-Wisconsin Region will host its 12th annual “Summer Happening” at the Chudnow Museum of Yesteryear on Thursday, June 14. The evening will include a guided tour of the museum at 7:05 p.m., and a dessert reception at 7:45 p.m.
Featured guest speaker will be JNF Sapphire Society member Mary Relles. Her topic will be “Timna: The Transformation of a Valley of Geological Formations & Archeological Artifacts Into a Major Tourist Attraction.”
Relles will describe how Israel’s Timna Valley in the southern Arava Valley, north of Eilat, has evolved from a natural wonder into an established tourist attraction. This transformation has been aided by construction of a visitor center, spearheaded and funded by Milwaukee’s Chudnow family.
The evening will serve as a kick-off event for JNF’s annual banquet, which will take place on Sept. 5.
The Chudnow Museum is located at 839 N. 11th St. in Milwaukee. There is no cost to attend; complimentary desserts will be served.
