Jewish National Fund (JNF) of Wisconsin launched its annual Goldie G. Perlson Community Blue Box Campaign in November. Close to 4,000 Blue Box donation cards were mailed to JNF Blue Box holders and supporters throughout the state. Last year the campaign raised almost $25,000.
This year funds raised from the campaign will help alleviate Israel’s severe water shortage by creating new sources of water, promoting purification and recycling, as well as encouraging conservation.
Also, JNF is seeking funds to create a new medical complex in the Central Arava, purchasing basic equipment. “This will encourage more people to settle in this area,” said Selma Zeiger, Wisconsin Region Blue Box chair.
Checks may be sent to JNF, or by appointment, you can arrange to bring your Blue Box to the office to be emptied by calling 414-963-8733.
Since its founding in 1901, JNF’s work in Israel has included planting 250 million trees; building more than 1,000 parks and recreational areas; creating new communities; discovering new means of growing plants under arid conditions; and building more than 205 reservoirs and water recycling centers, increasing Israel’s water supply by 12 percent. Today, JNF is supporting Israel’s newest generation of pioneers with projects in the Negev Desert, Israel’s last frontier.
JNF is a United Nations non-governmental organization and a U.S.-registered 501(c)(3) organization. For more information on JNF, call 888-JNF-0099 or visit www.jnf.org.
