Chai Lights: UWM Jewish studies center dedicated

From left behind the ribbon, Rachel Baum, Daniel Schnur, Tim Crain, Cary Silverstein, Susan Silverstein, and Jon Schnur, watched on Nov. 13 as Joel Berkowitz cut the ribbon officially opening the remodeled building now housing the Sam and Helen Stahl Center for Jewish Studies at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. Baum and Crain are UWM faculty members; the Silversteins and Schnurs are relatives of the Stahl and Berkowitz families that are involved in supporting the center; and Berkowitz is the center’s director. Among others present in this group but hidden from view were UWM Chancellor Michael R. Lovell. About 50 people attended the ceremony and the dedication program prior to it. Photo by Leon Cohen.
