The Jewish Women’s Endowment Fund (JWEF) announced its 2011 grant beneficiary organizations, with grants totaling $29,800. Programs receiving grants are:
• Nathan and Esther Pelz Holocaust Education Resource Center, “Beyond the Holocaust: Combating Bullying,” $5,000.
• Walker’s Point Youth & Family Center, “Runaway and Homeless Youth Shelter and Counseling Program,” $5,000.
• Jewish Family Services and Harry & Rose Samson Family Jewish Community Center (joint project), “Sharsheret,” $3,000.
• Community Advocates/Milwaukee Women’s Center, “Emergency Shelter Children’s Programs,” $3,000.
• Tikkun Ha-Ir of Milwaukee, “Surplus Garden Harvest,” $1,800.
• Grand Avenue Club, Inc., “Grand Avenue Club Women’s Group and Women’s Day of Health and Wellness,” $1,500.
The JWEF responds to needs in the Milwaukee community by making grants that directly benefit women and children. For the current funding cycle, more than 60 applications were received.
Grant recipients were chosen by a JWEF committee chaired by Barbara Glazer and Nancy Wiener.
Established in 1995 by the Women’s Division of the Milwaukee Jewish Federation, the JWEF is a permanent restricted fund of the Jewish Community Foundation, the endowment development program of the Milwaukee Jewish Federation.
