New arts council slates ‘Community JAM’

The Milwaukee Council for Jewish Arts and Culture is organizing a “Community JAM (Jewish Arts and Music)” event for Sunday, Dec. 4, 2-4 p.m., at the Harry & Rose Samson Family Jewish Community Center.

The event, according to a release, is intended to be “a community-wide interactive exploration of arts and culture through a Jewish lens. Participants will learn to express their inner artist through a variety of workshops led by local experts” in Jewish music, dance, art, and drama.

The new Jewish arts and culture council “is an initiative that grew out of the Milwaukee Jewish Summit” organized by the Milwaukee Jewish Federation and held this past summer, according to the release.

“Its goal,” said the release, “is to increase our Jewish community’s engagement in the arts, participating in local cultural events as well as creating new community-wide artistic ventures.”
