 Doris Bookstaff

Doris Bookstaff, nee Sedlet, of Milwaukee died Sept. 20. She was 77.

She was born in Milwaukee, graduated from Washington High School in 1952, and attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She worked in retail sales for Victoria’s Secret.

She was a member of Congregation Shalom and a life member of Hadassah. She enjoyed sewing and fashion design.

She is survived by husband Manning Bookstaff; daughters Barbara (Stephen) Weinstein and Sari (John) Bookstaff-Kear; sons Brian (Judi) Bookstaff and David Bookstaff; brother Marvin Sedlet; and 11 grandchildren.

Blane Goodman Funeral Service handled arrangements. Rabbi Ronald Shapiro presided over services on Sept. 22. Burial was in Mound Zion Cemetery.

David Radbil

David Radbil of Glendale died of heart failure on Aug. 29. He was 85.

He was born in Tel Aviv in what was then called Palestine, and his family brought him to Milwaukee in 1928. He graduated from North Division High School in 1944.

After service in the U.S. Navy as a radioman on a hospital ship, he attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison, graduating with a degree in journalism/advertising in 1950. He worked in advertising sales as an independent contractor.

He was a member of Temple Menorah and of the Morris R. Guten Post #487 of the Jewish War Veterans of the USA. He also enjoyed writing short stories and plays.

He was preceded in death by daughter Nancy Lynn Radbil in 1979. He is survived by his wife, Helene B. Radbil (nee Spitz); daughter Sharon (Patrick) Radbil Cooper of Madison; son Richard S. (Marci) Radbil of Austin, Texas; sister Sara (Robert) Schwartz of Madison; sister-in-law Eleanor (Dr. George) Kalman of Los Angeles; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandson.

Suminski/Weiss Funeral Homes handled arrangements. Rabbi Gil-Ezer Lerer officiated at graveside services, held Sept. 1 at Mound Zion Cemetery.

Evelyn Spitzbart

Milwaukee native Evelyn Spitzbart, nee Katz, died in San Diego on Sept. 26 of chronic lymphocytic leukemia. She was 86.

During her childhood, her family moved to Madison; and she graduated from Madison East High School in 1942 and the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1946. She married Abraham Spitzbart, professor of mathematics at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee for 40 years.

In Milwaukee, she and her husband were members of Congregation Emanu-El B’ne Jeshurun.

She is survived by daughter Gail Skoglund; son Donald Spitzbart; brother Leon Katz; and two grandchildren.

Funeral and burial on Oct. 4 were in Oceanside, Calif.

Vivian A. Tentoni

Milwaukee native Vivian A. Tentoni, nee Ginsberg, died Oct. 4 of cancer in Middleburg, Fla. She was 85.

She graduated from Casimir Pulaski High School in 1943 and earned her nursing degree from Illinois Masonic Hospital in Chicago in 1948.

She was an operating room nurse at the Veterans Administration Zablocki Medical Center in Wood, Wis., for more than 35 years. She participated in the first heart transplant operation in Wisconsin in 1968.

After retirement in 1985, she moved to Holiday, Fla. She worked at New Port Richey Surgicenter and did volunteer work for the V.A. Hospital in Tampa, Meals on Wheels, and Habitat for Humanity. She was a member of the Association of Operating Room Nurses.

She is survived by daughter Rise (Christopher) Horn; son Stuart (Charlotte Hall) Tentoni; brother Irving D. Gaines; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Funeral arrangements were handled in Jacksonville, Fla.
