Free loan organization receives Bader grant

The Milwaukee Jewish Free Loan Association has receive a two-year, $60,000 grant from the Helen Bader Foundation.

The funds will be used for the MJFLA’s small-loan program for moderate –income individuals who lack multiple co-signers for traditional loans.

MJFLA has been making non-sectarian, interest-free loans of up to $3,600 since November 2009. It has so far lent more than $45,000 to people in need in the Milwaukee area.

MJFLA loans help with emergency situations, including transportation, rent, childcare, and medical needs. Funds are also available for job training, special needs, home health care, and student loans.
