Local businessman Stan Kass and Mark Shapiro, executive director of the Harry & Rose Samson Family Jewish Community Center, came to the assistance of Gilda’s Club Southeastern Wisconsin after the August 2010 floods almost forced it to close.
According to a release from the organization, Kass donated funds that would allow the club to continue offering its full cancer support program, in spite of the damage to its Shorewood headquarters. Shapiro for his part offered space at the JCC to the club.
The program is available to men, women, and children whose lives are touched by cancer and is offered free of charge to participants.
