Hayley Fixler was one of 34 high school honorable mentions in C-Span’s 2011 national student video documentary competition. There were a record breaking 1,069 entries and approximately 2,000 entrants.
This year’s theme was “Washington, D.C., Through My Lens,” for which Haley submitted “A Different Kind of Orphan.” The winning documentaries can be viewed at www.studentcam.org/winners11.htm.
Haley is the granddaughter of Lois Stockland of Fox Point, and the daughter of former Wisconsin Jewish Chronicle writer Gayle Stockland Fixler and her husband, Dennis Fixler.
Haley is a junior at James Hubert Blake High School in Silver Spring, Md.
