Jewish National Fund, in partnership with Hillel Foundation University of Wisconsin and several Greek houses on the UW-Madison campus, is sponsoring a benefit concert to help raise funds to restore the forests and replace fire fighters’ equipment after the fire in the Carmel forests near Haifa this past December.
JNF also has established a Scholarship Fund for Fire Scouts Volunteer Program in memory of Elad Riven, 16, a volunteer firefighter who lost his life in the Carmel blaze. The goal is to raise between $10,000 and $15,000. UW students Jeremy Greenberg and Zac Miller are spearheading this concert. The featured performers — hip-hop artists Diwon, Y-Love, and Prodezra — are diverse multi-culturally, Jewish and African American, bridging gaps between race, religion and ethnic groups.
The concert will be held Thursday, April 7, 7 p.m., at the Orpheum Theatre, 121 West Johnson St, Madison. Tickets are $15 and can be purchased at www.uwhillel.org/hiphop. All proceeds will go to JNF. Visit the Web site for more information.
