Museum to present programs related to Chagall exhibit

The Jewish Museum Milwaukee, located at 1360 N. Prospect Ave., is planning several public events in March in conjunction with its exhibit, “The Children of Israel Journeyed: Selections from the Chagall Bible Series.”

This exhibit, which runs March 6-June 6, includes 21 etchings on biblical subjects by Marc Chagall, on loan from the Haggerty Museum of Art at Marquette University.

The exhibit opening will take place Sunday, March 6, noon-4 p.m. This event will include tours of the exhibit, refreshments and a musical performance in collaboration with Jewish arts organization RUACH at 2 p.m. The event is free for museum members, $5 for non-members.

Other events, which will be held at the museum unless otherwise noted, include:

• Sneak Preview Reception on Thursday, March 3, 7-9 p.m. An exhibit preview and reception with food, drink, and DJ music. Event co-chairs: Debbie and Aaron Bernstein, Jen and Jason Rosenberg, and Ali and Rob Ruvin.$20 for members; $25 for non-members.

• “Russian Recollections” on Sunday, March 13, 1:30-3 p.m. A lecture by museum Program Coordinator Molly Dubin on Chagall’s Russian roots, which inspired his work throughout his career. Simultaneous Russian translation by interpreter Alla Rabinovich.Free for members; $2 for non-members.

• Adult Etching Workshop, Tuesday, March 22, 6:30-8:30 p.m. This hands-on workshop explores the etching and printing processes Chagall employed, including dry-point and aquatint.At RedLine Milwaukee, 1422 N. Fourth Street.$28 (includes all supplies).
