The Jewish Museum Milwaukee has scheduled a variety of events in the coming weeks. They include:
• Author Lecture. Monday, March 14, 1 p.m.British author Patricia Friedberg will discuss her novel “21 Aldgate,” the story of a young Jewish woman in pre-World War II England who goes to work for the French artist Paul Maze. Free for members; $5 for non-members.
• “Contemporary Immigration Issues.” Sunday, March 27, 1 p.m.University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee associate professor of history Rachel Buff will speak. Presented in collaboration with Tikkun Ha-Ir of Milwaukee. Free.
• Day Trip to Illinois Holocaust Museum & Education Center (Skokie) and Congregation Ezra Habonim. Wednesday, March 30, 9:30 a.m.-6 p.m.A day of Jewish experience in northern Illinois, including a visit to view the stained glass windows at Congregation Ezra Habonim, a docent-led tour of the IHMEC, and a Skokie Survivor Speakers’ Bureau presentation.$54 includes round-trip motor coach transportation, kosher box lunch, and all admission fees.
• Women of Valor Series: “Deborah Dash Moore: Walkers in the City: Jewish Women Photographers.” Sunday, April 3, 2 p.m. In the mid-1930s, young American Jewish women picked up cameras to photograph their urban world, honing their craft at the New York Photo League (1936-1951), a largely Jewish left-wing school. Learn about their photographs at this lecture, presented in collaboration with the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee’s Sam & Helen Stahl Center for Jewish Studies. Kosher refreshments served. Free.
