Jewish film classes set for March

The Coalition for Jewish Learning, the education program of the Milwaukee Jewish Federation, will team with other Jewish organizations to present free classes in March about films of Jewish interest.

The “Jews Around the World” series is co-sponsored by CJL and the Harry & Rose Samson Family Jewish Community Center. The next film in this series is:

Four Seasons Lodge”(2008) — A documentary about a group of Holocaust survivors who vacationed together in the Catskills for many years. Co-sponsored by the Nathan and Esther Pelz Holocaust Education Resource Center. Presenters: Betty Chrustowski, Sandy Hoffman, and Jeannette Peckerman. Sunday, March 6, 4 p.m.

The continuing “Cutting Edge Israel” series is co-sponsored by CJL, the JCC, and the Israel Center of the Milwaukee Jewish Federation. These contemporary short films include:

The Worst Company in the World” (2009) — An affectionate documentary about three divorced men trying to run an insurance company. Presenter: Jody Hirsh, JCC Judaic educator. Thursday, March 24, 7 p.m.

Among the Righteous: Lost Stories from the Holocaust in Arab Lands” (2010)This one-hour documentary about the Holocaust in North Africa (Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia) follows historian Robert Satloff’s search for Arabs who helped to save Jews during the Holocaust. Presenter: Professor Tim Crain. Monday, March 21, 7 p.m.
