Milwaukeeans Marilyn and Robert Teper are seeking bone marrow registrants to find a possible match for their son Rick, 43, who recently was diagnosed with acute myelogenous leukemia (AML).
Treatment includes chemotherapy and stem cell transplant. A bone marrow testing and registration event is scheduled to be held for Rick at Congregation Shalom on Sunday, Feb. 20, noon to 4 p.m.
Rick grew up in Milwaukee and now lives in the Chicago area. He is married and has two children, 6 and 4. He works at Abbott Laboratories as a manager of corporate facilities planning.
Registering and testing for bone marrow registry involves completing a health history form, being interviewed, and having a cheek swabbing done. People interested in registering must be between 18 and 61 years old.
