A native Milwaukeean, she graduated from North Division High School and attended a business college (the family is not sure of which). She worked as an occupational and placement counselor for Jewish Vocational Services and Jewish Family Services, and helped Russian immigrant families find jobs.
She was a member of Beth El Ner Tamid Synagogue and served as president of its sisterhood. She also was active in NA’AMAT, Jewish National Fund, and Israel Bonds.
Her family said she had special interests in opera, writing, Yiddish, theater, dance, politics, and “learning of all kinds.”
Her husband, Max Hoffman, DDS, died in 1978. She is survived by son Dr. Stuart (Sandy Neufeld) Hoffman; daughter Edris (Michael)Kanter; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Goodman-Bensman Whitefish Bay Funeral Home handled the arrangements. Rabbi Yoseph Samuels officiated at the funeral on Oct. 29. Burial was in Agudas Achim Cemetery.
The family would appreciate memorial contributions to NA’AMAT, Jewish National Fund, the Nathan & Esther Pelz Holocaust Education Resource Center, or the JCC Neufeld Holocaust Memorial Fund.
