Gigi Pomerantz of Glendale received the Hometown Hero Award from Rep. Sandy Pasch (D-Whitefish Bay), who gave the award March 4 on behalf of the Wisconsin State Assembly.
A nurse practitioner, Pomerantz founded the organization Youthaiti, which is dedicated to helping young Haitians develop ecological projects in sanitation and water source protection, community gardening and reforestation.
She has served on the boards of the American Jewish Committee and Tikkun Ha-Ir.
