Physician Paul P. Bassewitz died at age 92 of heart failure on Nov 18. A Sheboygan native, he moved to Naples, Fla., in 1998.
He graduated from Sheboygan High School in 1934 and earned Bachelor of Science and medical degrees from the University of Wisconsin. He worked as a family practitioner in Sheboygan and moved to Florida in 1998.
He was a member of the American Medical Association, Elks Club Lodge 299 and the Jewish War Veterans Post 202. A member of Beth El Synagogue in Sheboygan, he particularly enjoyed chanting haftarot. In his free time, he liked to golf.
He is survived by wife Barbara G. Bassewitz; son Marc (Sheri) of Lincolnshire, Ill.; daughter Lisa (Harold) Lauber of Naples; four grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held on Nov. 22. Rabbi Steven H. Adams officiated. Burial was in the Sheboygan Hebrew Cemetery.
