I never cease to be amazed when Jews, though well-intentioned, carry propaganda water for those who would do us in. It is particularly distressing when a leader of the Jewish community, like Rabbi Marc Schneier, does so.
In his column in the March 13 Chronicle, Schneier catalogues recent acts of Muslim anti-Semitism in Europe, only to ask why Jews are “hesitant, worried, anxious and unsure” about undertaking dialogue with Muslims. Could it be because Muslims are the perpetrators of almost all terrorism today, not to mention the incidents he listed?
Schneier believes dialogue with Muslims is the answer. Perhaps if it were true, as he states, “the majority of Muslim leaders and scholars are, in fact, fair-minded individuals who wish no harm to Jews.”
Where is his evidence for this claim? Why don’t we see massive demonstrations by Muslims against co-religionists who slaughter innocents in the name of Allah? Wouldn’t Schneier be leading such public outcries if Jews were perpetrating carnage on such a scale?
His citation of “the courageous” Mohammed Siddiqi as someone who has “denounced anti-Semitism unequivocally” is sadly naive. That Sharia- and Jihad-supporting Siddiqi is on record as saying something as blatantly untrue as “Muslims have never used passages from the Koran to justify acts of anti-Semitism” makes meaningless any denouncement of anti-Semitism by him.
Schneier urges Jewish leaders to speak against “Islamophobia,” a “straw man” that the Jihadis and their apologists have invented to silence those who would criticize them.
How can Jews expect Muslims to respect us if we show no respect for ourselves?
