Manford Holman

Sheboygan native Manford Holman died there, at home, on Jan. 27. He was 86.

Holman graduated from Sheboygan North High School in 1940 and earned a bachelor’s degree in engineering from Harvard University in 1944.

He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and then returned to Milwaukee where he began a career in real estate. In 1965, went home to Sheboygan where he joined the family business, Holman and Sons Real Estate.

He was an active member of Sheboygan’s Congregation Beth El, where he served on the board.

He especially enjoyed sports, travel, family vacations in Wisconsin’s north woods and his grandchildren’s activities and performances, his family said.

He is survived by his wife Phyllis “Mitzi” Holman (nee Barnett); daughters Janet (Gregory) Schmeling, Susan (Carter) Hunnicutt, and Patricia (Paul Mozina) Holman, all of Milwaukee; brothers David (Elaine) Holman and Marvin Holman, both of Sheboygan; and four grandchildren.

Ballhorn Funeral Chapels handled the arrangements. Alan Spessman officiated at services at the funeral home on Jan. 29. Burial was in Sheboygan Hebrew Cemetery.

The family appreciates memorials to Congregation Beth El, 1007 North Avenue, Sheboygan, WI 53081 or the charity of the donor’s choice.
