Shirley Ruth Levings Goisman

Milwaukee native Shirley Ruth Levings Goisman died Jan. 18 at the age of 93. The cause of death was complications of pneumonia.

Goisman graduated from Washington High School and Wisconsin State Teachers College (now the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee) with a degree in elementary education. She worked as a grade school teacher.

She was a member of Congregation Shalom and the Women’s Welfare Board.
Her special interests included travel, cooking and love of family, her family said.

She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Max Goisman; sons Robert (Jeanne Traxler) Goisman of Brookline, Mass., and Richard (JoAnn) Goisman of Milwaukee; and two grandsons.

Blane Goodman Funeral Service, LLC, handled the arrangements. Rabbi Ronald Shapiro officiated at funeral services at Congregation Shalom on Jan. 20. Burial was in Spring Hill Cemetery.

The family appreciates memorial contributions to the Wisconsin Society for Jewish Learning.
