Anita Stein

Milwaukee native Anita Stein (nee Chernin) of Bayside died Dec. 2 at the age of 92.

She attended North Division High School.

Stein was a member of Beth El Ner Tamid Synagogue and its Sisterhood. According to her family, in her younger years she was an active volunteer at Mt. Sinai Hospital

Described by her family as a “wonderful mom and wife,” Stein especially enjoyed doing needlepoint and knitting.

Preceded in death by her brother Harvey Chernin in 1990, and her husband Edward A. Stein in 2007, she is survived by daughters Marla (Fernando) Barreira of Venice, Calif., Bonnie (David) Gold of Agoura, Calif., and Karen Stein of Milwaukee; son Steven (Connie) Stein of Milwaukee; brothers Jack Chernin of Milwaukee and Mickey (Anne) Chernin of Philadelphia; and seven grandchildren.

Blane Goodman Funeral Service handled funeral and burial arrangements. Rabbi Yitzchak Berman officiated at graveside services in Spring Hill Cemetery on Dec. 5.

Memorials to the charity of the donor’s choice are appreciated by the family.
