William Braun

Milwaukee native William B. Braun died on April 16. He was 75.

A graduate of Shorewood High School and the University of Wisconsin-Madison, Braun worked as a hide broker with Harold Braun and Co., Inc., in Milwaukee.

Braun served as the president of Zeta Beta Tau fraternity, commander-in-chief of the Wisconsin Scottish Rite and was a member of the Wisconsin Alumni Association and Milwaukee Harmony Lodge.

He was also a long-time trustee and treasurer of Congregation Emanu-El B’ne Jeshurun, and a champion for the Jewish Community Center’s theater program. He served as the technical director for the Center’s Perhift Players for many years.

Among Braun’s passions were traveling, golf, photography, Freemasonry, theater and the Badgers and Packers football teams.

Braun is survived by his wife of 53 years, Ruth Braun, nee Mallin, of Mequon; daughter Susi (John) Geiger of Bayside; sons Mitch Braun of Shorewood and Steve (Karen) Braun of Highland Park, Ill.; and five grandchildren.

Funeral arrangements were handled by Blane Goodman Funeral Service, LLC. Services were officiated by Rabbi Marc Berkson at CEEBJ on April 18. Burial was in Spring Hill Cemetery.
