Milwaukee native Jerome M. Greenblatt, a resident of St. Louis, died on April 18. He was 84.
Greenblatt attended high school in Milwaukee and the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
A decorated World War II Navy veteran, Greenblatt was involved in special weapons (guided missiles) development at the Bureau of Standards in Washington, D.C. He saw action in the Pacific theater with Navy Squadron VPB 109.
Greenblatt moved from Milwaukee to St. Louis in 1954 to pursue a job opportunity. He worked at three different banking institutions and was later the director of public relations and marketing at the St. Louis Jewish Community Center for 17 years.
A two-term mayor of Crystal Lake Park, Mo., Greenblatt also served as the president of the board of directors of the Associates in Medicine of Jewish Hospital, chairman of the Frontenac Police and Fire Board of Directors, and four terms as president of the West Port Area Chamber of Commerce, among other political and civic associations.
Greenblatt is survived by daughter Gail G. Armstrong of St. Louis; son William (Karin) Greenblatt of Aliso Viejo, Calif.; and four grandchildren.
Funeral arrangements were handled by Borgwardt Funeral Home and Cremation Service. Graveside services with military honors were held at Spring Hill Cemetery on April 23.
