Samuel Grossman

Former Milwaukeean Samuel “Jack” Grossman of Hollywood, Fla., died Aug. 25 at the age of 94.

Born in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Grossman came to the United States in 1917 and settled with his family in Wisconsin. He graduated from Washington High School and Marquette University, where he received a law degree. He was the owner of Beacon Oil Company, as well as several area gas stations. He and his wife were members of Beth El Ner Tamid Synagogue before moving to Florida in 1973.

The family described Grossman as someone who enjoyed golf and activities surrounding his family.

He is survived by his wife, Frances (nee Kornfeld); daughters Jane (Stephen) Chernof of Shorewood and Carol (Richard) Abrams of Denver; a brother, Alvin (Gladys) Grossman of Fox Point; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Graveside services were held Aug. 28 at Beth Hamedrosh Hagodel Cemetery. Rabbi Jacob Herber officiated.
