Graveside services were held on Oct. 28 at Mound Zion Cemetery for Milwaukee native Ruth V. Colt. She died Oct. 18 in San Diego at the age of 91.
She attended Marquette University and studied voice. In the 1930s, she sang professionally and served as a cantorial soloist for servicemen at Jewish high holidays in San Diego following World War II.
With her husband, William, who preceded her in death, she assisted in the relocation of refugees in San Diego.
A life member and past president of the San Diego chapter of Brandeis University National Women’s Committee, she was also a noted needlepoint designer and teacher whose creations have appeared in craft books and magazines.
Her son, Rolf, preceded her in death. She is survived by her daughter, Anne Colt, of San Diego.
