Ruth Cassel

Ruth Cassel (nee Cohen) of Waukesha died of heart failure on Sept. 4. She was 93.
A Milwaukee native, she graduated from North Division High School in 1931. She worked as a sales manager and receptionist for several businesses, including Schuster’s, Schneiderman’s, Cristy Kay’s in Whitefish Bay and the Harry & Rose Samson Family Jewish Community Center at its former Prospect Ave. location.

She volunteered for many years at the JCC, where she was a lifetime member. In addition she was a member of Beth El Ner Tamid Synagogue.

According to her family, Cassel was most interested in family — from her children down to her great-great-grandchild. She also had a special interest in birds, teaching one she named Billy Boy to speak several words.

She was preceded in death by husbands Albert Daily in 1959 and Jerry Cassel in 1978, and a daughter, Joan D. Wallner. Survivors include sons Jack (Mary) Daily of Kennet, Mo., and Frank (Nancy) Daily of Waukesha; daughter Shirley (Charles) Evans of Scottsdale, Ariz.; 12 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Graveside services were held on Sept. 7 in Agudas Achim Cemetery. Rabbi Dena Feingold officiated.

The family appreciates memorial contributions to Beth Hillel Temple in Kenosha.
