Milwaukee native Rose C. Kulakow (nee Cohen) died of heart failure on Jan. 2 at the age of 97.
A 1925 graduate of West Division High School and a 1929 graduate of Milwaukee Downer College, she worked as an employment counselor for Jewish Vocational Services.
She was a member of Congregation Emanu-El B’ne Jeshurun and Hadassah. In addition, she served as president of District 6 of B’nai B’rith Women (now called Jewish Women International) from 1949 to 1951 and as president of B’nai B’rith Youth Organization-Wisconsin Region where she was a member of the board until her death.
She was also the recipient of a BBYO Gold Key national award and the BBYO Tree of Youth award, which she originated in memory of her brother, her family said.
Preceded in death by husband Harry N. Yampol in 1958 and husband Samuel Kulakow in 1968, she is survived by daughters Audrey (Richard Lauwasser) Brooks and Donna (Hans) Moser, both of Tucson, Ariz.; son Neal (Debra Levine) Yampol of Scottsdale, Ariz.; nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Rabbi Marc Berkson officiated at funeral services at Congregation Emanu-El B’ne Jeshurun, Jan 6. Burial was in Second Home Cemetery.
