Milwaukee native Perry E. Skorton, 75, died on July 22 of natural causes.
He graduated from Washington High School in 1948, and attended college at the University of Wisconsin Extension for over two years. He worked as an insurance salesman for the John Hancock Mutual Life Insurance Company for 28 years, as well as PES Insurance and Statewide Home Builders. He was number one in insurance sales for many years, and was a member of the John Hancock Honor Club.
He served in the United States Army in Germany during the Korean War, as a member of the Military Police. He was a member of the Horenstein-Katz Auxiliary No. 701 Jewish War Veterans. He was also a member of Elks Club and of Beth El Ner Tamid Synagogue.
According to his family, Skorton loved gardening, history, music, traveling, sports, movies and visiting with his children and grandchildren.
He is survived by wife Harriet Anita Skorton; daughters Debra (Martin) Rothberg of Nashua, N.H., and Sandra (James) Reynolds of Madison; son Lawrence Skorton of Milwaukee; brother Dr. David (Robin) Skorton of Iowa City, Iowa; and two grandchildren.
The funeral was held July 25. Burial was at Mound Zion Cemetery. Rabbi Gideon Goldenholz officiated.
Memorials to the National Kidney Foundation, the American Heart Association or Jewish War Veterans would be appreciated by the family.
