Racine native Norman Shovers, 85, died July 8 in Scottsdale, Ariz.
He graduated from Racine’s Washington Park High School and continued his education at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where he earned degrees in business and law.
After serving four years in the Army Air Corps and achieving the rank of captain, he returned to Racine. He was a lawyer and accountant for nearly 50 years, retiring in 1996. He was a member of Beth Israel Sinai Congregation.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Leah Shovers (nee Woolf); son William (Barbara) Shovers of Bonn, Germany; sister Shirley Ganz of Skokie, Ill.; brother Alvin (Lois) Shovers of Racine; and a granddaughter.
Cantor Martyn Adelburg officiated at the funeral on July 11. Burial was in Racine Jewish Memorial Cemetery.
The family would appreciate memorials to the Alzheimer’s Association of Southeastern Wisconsin or any hospice program.
