Strong supporter of the Boy Scouts of America Norman L. Blumberg of Glendale died July 8 of heart failure. He was 77.
He was born in South Milwaukee and graduated in 1944 from Washington High School. He continued his studies at the University of Wisconsin Extension Division where he earned a degree in business administration.
He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II and later worked as a retail manager at Gimbels Department Store. A member of Beth El Ner Tamid Synagogue and its Men’s Club, he was its membership chairman and Man of the Year in 1993.
His special interest was scouting. Involved for many years with the Boy Scouts of America, he received its Silver Beaver Award, the highest honor bestowed on adult volunteers.
He is survived by his wife, Harriet Blumberg (nee Druch); sons Steven (Jackie) Blumberg and Jeffrey Blumberg, both of Brown Deer; daughters Judith (Robert) Kaplan of Waukesha and Mimi (Donald) Chudnow of Mequon; sister Jean “Dodo” (George) Schwarz of Los Angeles; and seven grandchildren.
Cantor Jerome Berkowitz officiated at the funeral on July 10. Burial was in Second Home Cemetery.
